Emilie Jones is an associate in the European corporate team who provides pragmatic and commercial advice on a broad range of international transactions.

Ms. Jones advises emerging and established companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, collaborations, licensing arrangements, commercial contracts and general corporate governance issues.  She focuses on the branded goods, sports, media and technology sectors and in advising on deals with a significant intellectual property element.

She has significant experience in helping clients establish brands, extend product ranges, develop co-branded products, diversify into new markets and regions through setting up joint ventures with local partners, franchise arrangements and distribution and retail channels and navigate complex local legal system.  Ms. Jones manages multi-country reviews and projects on a wide variety of topics, including advertising laws and termination of agency and distribution arrangements.

Ms. Jones has also gained valuable in-house experience while on secondment to a global pharmaceutical company.

Representative Matters

  • Giorgio Armani S.p.A. on numerous transactions, including:
    • a joint venture with an Indian property consortium for the import, sale and distribution of Armani branded goods in India;
    • the acquisition of its retail and wholesale business in the United Kingdom from long-term retail partner Club 21;
    • a collaboration with Reebok for the creation of a unique collection; and
    • the re-purchase of a 50% equity stake in the A/X Armani Exchange brand and the related global licensing and retail arrangements.
  • Chiquita Brands International on the re-organisation of its joint venture and fruit supply arrangements in Asia and the Middle East.
  • Coty Inc. on the restructuring of its distribution arrangements in Asia.
  • The Haddad Apparel Group, manufacturer and distributor of Nike, Levi’s, Jordan and Converse branded children’s apparel and accessories on its global expansion.
  • HaloIPT on Qualcomm’s acquisition of its Automotive Wireless Charging Technology.
  • World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on contractual arrangements for its global anti-doping platform.

Pro Bono

  • Ms. Jones is the International Paralympic Committee’s primary legal advisor on all matters relating to anti-doping.  She was the IPC’s counsel on the ground at both the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
  • For her work with the IPC she was short listed for the Law Society’s Junior Lawyers Pro Bono Awards 2011.
  • Ms. Jones is a member of the firm’s Public Services Committee and coordinates the London office pro bono activities.
