Eric Greenberg practices corporate law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, new venture formations, venture capital and private equity financings, joint ventures, and licensing transactions.  His practice concentrates on transactions in the media, broadcasting, and communications sectors.  Chambers USA has named Mr. Greenberg one of the leading lawyers in both "Corporate/M&A & Private Equity" and “Telecom, Broadcast & Satellite.”  The Legal 500 US identified Mr. Greenberg as one of the leading lawyers in telecommunications finance.  His experience in this area ranges from traditional to new media transactions.  He also regularly represents broadcasters in sales and acquisitions of stations, including complex multi-party acquisition structures.  Mr. Greenberg’s experience also includes work in the life sciences sector, where he has worked with established companies, start-ups, joint-ventures, and innovative public-private partnerships.  In addition, he is co-chair of the firm's summer associate program in Washington.

Representative Matters

  • Advised Providence Equity Partners in its $1.1 billion acquisition of Clear Channel Communications' television stations, to form the Newport Television station group, and subsequently represented Providence and Newport in designing a multi-tiered transaction pursuant to which Newport divested certain of the stations to High Plains Broadcasting.
  • Represented new media start-up LX.TV, producer of local lifestyle broadband and television content, in sale to NBC Universal.
  • Represented Belo Corp. in its content licensing and equity investment transactions with Mochila, an online content clearing house.
  • Represented Barrington Broadcasting in four-party simultaneous acquisition of two same-market television stations.
  • Represented the Gates Foundation in the formation of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise, an international private-public partnership.
