Charles Fischette is a litigation associate in the Insurance Practice Group and White Collar Defense and Investigations Group at Covington & Burling.
Mr. Fischette represents policyholders seeking insurance coverage in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate level. He has successfully obtained coverage for major corporate policyholders for third-party liabilities relating to asbestos, long-term environmental contamination, products hazards, professional liability/malpractice, and product recall. He has also advised clients on a wide variety of first-party claims, including earthquake damage, major capital equipment break-down, and construction losses.
Representative Matters
- Successfully represented SPX Corporation in North Carolina state court in an insurance coverage matter concerning asbestos, including on appeal, SPX Corporation v. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, 709 S.E.2d 441 (N.C. Ct. App. 2011).
- Represents major petroleum refiner in multi-jurisdictional insurance coverage litigation related to gasoline products liability litigation.
- Represented a public company in an internal investigation related to a proceeding in the Delaware Chancery Court.
- Represents NCR Corporation in Wisconsin state court in an insurance coverage matter concerning environmental liabilities.
- Represented an individual defendant in a multi-jurisdictional white collar criminal matter.
