The firm's overall objective is to ensure that compensation for our employees is fully competitive with the leading firms in each market where we have offices. This reflects our desire to attract and retain the very best employees, and our intention to continue at the forefront of firms in the nation and internationally. The goal of our staff compensation program is to provide a generous total compensation package (e.g., salary, bonuses, retirement benefits, insurance, and other fringe benefits) that is highly competitive for similar positions in similarly sized offices within the geographic region.
The following is a general summary of certain benefits available from the firm, and is neither exhaustive nor definitive. All benefits are governed by written documents and, in some instances, by applicable law. The firm offers:
- Medical and dental coverage through a flexible arrangement that allows eligible employees to seek care within or outside the network. Vision care coverage is also available. The firm pays a substantial portion of the cost of coverage for an employee and his or her eligible dependents, which may include their spouse or domestic partner of the same or opposite sex.
- Flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
- A 401(k) retirement savings plan for eligible employees. Employees are always fully vested in their contributions to the plan. Employee accounts are invested as the employee directs, among a variety of investment options including equity, fixed-income, and money market investment funds. A discretionary firm contribution is also available to eligible employees.
- Short- and long-term disability benefits.
- Life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Employees may also purchase supplemental coverage for themselves and their dependents.
- Transportation fringe benefit program.
- An Employee Assistance Program to provide confidential counseling or assistance on a wide array of issues to all employees and their families.
- Emergency travel assistance benefits to all employees and their dependents through Assist America, a global network of 600,000 pre-qualified medical/air and ground ambulance providers and operation centers.
- Paid time off commensurate with seniority, as well as paid holidays.
- Paid parental leave of 18 weeks for primary caregivers upon the birth or adoption of a child and four weeks of paid leave for non-primary caregivers.
- Tuition scholarships for continuing education of firm employees.
- Cash bonuses for referred hires.
- An on-site day care center in Washington. In-home and center-based care only available through emergency back-up care.
- Discounted long-term care insurance policies available through an independent broker.
