Q:  Does Covington & Burling LLP offer training contracts only to people who participate in its summer scheme?

A:  No.  However, we find that the summer scheme provides Covington and the scheme participant the opportunity to learn more about the other.

Q:  Why choose a US firm and not a magic circle firm?

A:  The London office of a US law firm can offer the prestige and quality of work of an large international firm, yet the intimacy and responsibility that comes with working within a small office.

Q:  Does Covington & Burling LLP give any financial assistance to prospective trainees whilst studying for the GDL and LPC?

A:  We pay fees for the GDL and LPC.  In addition we pay an annual maintenance grant of £8,000 for the GDL year (if applicable) and the LPC year.

Q:  Does Covington & Burling LLP have a preference as to where the GDL or LPC should be studied?

A:  No.  We do, however, require students to choose options during their courses that will be relevant to their training contract.
