Brian Byrne is an associate in the Brussels office.  His practice focuses on all aspects of EU competition law, and his experience encompasses merger control, cartel investigations, and abuse of dominance cases. His practice also focuses on international trade law and litigation before the European Courts.

Mr. Byrne has experience advising clients in a number of industries, including pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, air transport, technology, electronics, and mining.

Representative Matters

  • Representing the Council of the European Union in anti-dumping cases before the General Court of the EU.
  • Representing Slovak Telekom in the European Commission’s investigation concerning alleged refusal to deal and margin squeeze in the Slovak broadband sector.
  • Representation of a major pharmaceutical supplier in its defence against an investigation by the European Commission into patent settlement agreements.
  • Representation of Ryanair in proceedings before the Office of Fair Trading regarding Ryanair’s minority stake in Aer Lingus.
  • Representation of a major pharmaceutical supplier in its successful defence against an investigation by the European Commission into alleged collusive behaviour and abuse of regulatory procedures.
