Allan Topol is a co-chairman of the Environmental Department and resident in the firm’s Washington office.
Mr. Topol’s practice since 1970, has involved extensive civil and criminal litigation, with an emphasis on water, air and major hazardous waste enforcement cases, as well as international environmental law and toxic torts. He has also advised clients on many of these environmental issues assisting them in dealing with immediate problems as well as developing long term strategies.
In addition, Mr. Topol has represented clients in IP and commercial litigation, including patent infringement and contract cases. He was admitted to the U.S. Patent Office in 1971.
Representative Matters
- Representation of several aerospace companies in the Stringfellow Superfund litigation in the District Court in California in which a very favorable result was obtained with the great majority of the costs being incurred by the State of California.
- Representation of several manufacturing companies in successful consent decree negotiations with the U.S. EPA and the State of California concerning the Casmalia Hazardous Waste Site and the Omega Hazardous Waste Site.
- Representation of a large chemical manufacturer in negotiation of a consent decree that resolved remedial as well as toxic tort issues with the U.S. EPA in a town in Alabama at which PCB exposure was significant.
- Representing an aerospace company in litigation with the U.S. EPA in the Eastern District of New York in which a summary judgment was obtained avoiding all liability.
