Allan B. Moore practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and insurance coverage and is co-chair, with Tom Johnson, of the firm’s Arbitration practice group. He has represented a broad array of multinational corporations and financial institutions and regularly appears before federal and state courts throughout the United States, and both foreign and domestic arbitral tribunals. Mr. Moore has helped clients recover nearly $1 billion in damages awards, fee awards, and settlement payments in insurance coverage and commercial disputes. He has served as lead counsel in ICC, ICSID, AAA, and ad hoc arbitrations.
Mr. Moore coordinates on litigation and arbitration matters with the firm's London office, where he was resident from 1999 until 2002, and from which he managed, among other matters, intellectual roperty enforcement litigation for leading software companies in more than 30 countries across Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Mr. Moore has represented the revailing parties in several international arbitrations that have proceeded to final awards on the merits after extensive hearings. Clients in major matters include Blackstone Group, Eli Lilly, Goodrich, Kingdom of Jordan, Merck, Microsoft, National Grid, Sears, and various privately held entities, both foreign and domestic.
Representative Matters
- Representation of a Fortune 100 company in related London arbitrations involving over 40 witnesses and six weeks of testimony that resulted in an award of over $500 million in insurance coverage for mass tort liabilities, other relief, and further undisclosed settlements.
- Representation of the Jordanian Government in an ICSID arbitration brought by a Turkish contractor in connection with the collapse of a dike constructed under a FIDIC contract in the Dead Sea.
- Representation of an American hybrid automobile battery manufacturer in an AAA arbitration in Houston against a joint venture partner.
- Representation of an American manufacturing firm and licensee in successfully obtaining, through an ICC arbitration in London, a worldwide injunction and award of costs and fees against its South African licensor, which had become an infringing competitor.
- Representation of an Israeli inventor in successfully establishing breaches of contract by a German engineering firm, and obtaining an award of costs and fees, in an ICC arbitration in London.
- Representation of corporate policyholders, from diverse industries, in state and federal coverage actions in California, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.
